The sun also riseth

In Ecclesiastes, chapter one, verses five through eight, beginning with verse one, “The sun also ariseth, and the sun goeth down, and hasteth to his place where he arose.” The earth itself appears to move in its own predetermined way, with nothing changing. Human beings cannot look to nature to find meaning for their existence on earth, nor can they find total satisfaction in it. The ungodly or unbelievers look for other reasons for not acknowledging God, such as self and things, as an excuse to avoid the Almighty One who created everything.

“The wind goeth toward the south, and turneth about unto the north; it whirleth about continually, and the wind returneth again according to his circuits.” As the wind blows on earth, no one knows where it goes, but only sees the result. The trees sway slightly, and the leaves and debris on the ground move left, right, or in a circular motion. However, no one can determine with the eyes what it will do next. The living God is similar to this kind of action, although He made the wind operate in this fashion.

“All the rivers run into the sea; yet the sea is not full; unto the place from whence the rivers come, thither they return again,” is verse eight of this theme. An example in relation to this verse is the saints of God praying to Him. Millions of believers around the world pray to God throughout the day, and yet He hears every one of them. Similar to the sea that is never full, so is God never busy listening to His people.

“All things are full of labour; man cannot utter it: the eye is not satisfied with seeing, nor the ear filled with hearing.” So the sun continues with its routine.
