In Proverbs, chapter twenty-five, verse two, “It is the glory of God to conceal a thing” is the first part of this scripture. God has chosen not to reveal all things clearly, as in Romans eleven, verse thirty-three, “O the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable are His judgments, and His ways past finding out! He has left much concealed beneath a surface reading of the scriptures that only those who pursue Him diligently will discover. God’s people should pray regularly for “the spirit of wisdom and revelation,” as in Ephesians one, verse seventeen, as they diligently and prayerfully search the depths of God’s revelation in His Word.
True wisdom is the gift of God. The Lord knows those who desire to read and study the Bible because He sees the heart. If the individual is doing it for the wrong reasons, He knows them as well. First Corinthians two, verses six through sixteen, gives full detail on the difference between those who receive revelation by His Spirit and those who do not. People who read and study God’s Word from the surface do it not spiritually, but physically. They will preach a good sermon, but will not have the holy presence to accompany them with their message and effectively impact all who listen.
