A well of life

In Proverbs, chapter ten, verse eleven, those who know and follow God’s ways will lead others into the life given by God. Compare Ezekiel forty-seven, verses one through twelve, and John four, verse fourteen, and John seven, verse thirty-eight, where the Spirit living in the believer is a source of living water. As this living water flows through the believer, it brings eternal life to others. Believers should pray that the Holy Spirit will flow through them to bring life and blessing to others.

The theme title is from the beginning of the verse, “The mouth of a righteous man is a well of life.” The tongue, which is a part of the mouth, can work for a person and against them. And the tongue is a fire, a world of iniquity: so is the tongue among our members, that it defileth the whole body, and setteth on fire the course of nature; and it is set on fire of hell,” as in James three, verse six. The mouth of a person can help or hurt them. The righteous believer who utters the Word of God sincerely and prays to the Lord will eventually find favor and blessing.

A well of life begins with how we talk about ourselves. Speaking good things into our existence has the potential to carry over into our lives. The old saying, “Be careful what you say,” is significant today. In Job six, verse thirty, at the beginning of the verse, “Is there iniquity in my tongue?” For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God, as in Romans three, verse twenty-three.

A well of life begins with us. What we say about ourselves and others in the environment we live in is our choice. Think before we speak because you cannot take it back.
