Wisdom

In Proverbs, chapter one, verse two, as used in this book, wisdom means living and thinking according to the righteous truth and ways. It means approaching all of life from God’s point of view, believing that everything God says is rightful and truthful and the only sure standard by which to live. Gaining God’s wisdom is far better than possessing silver or gold, as in Proverbs three, verses thirteen through fourteen. It only comes to those who seek it through prayer relationship with God in verse seven and diligent study of His Word, as in Proverbs three, verses one to three. Christ, whom the New Testament says is the ultimate wisdom of God, as in First Corinthians one, verse thirty, and Colossians two, verses two through three, teaches us that we receive His wisdom by abiding in Him and by allowing His Words to abide in us, as in John fifteen, verse seven and by yielding our hearts and minds to the indwelling Holy Spirit, as in John fourteen, verses sixteen through twenty-six.

The theme verse, “To know wisdom and instruction; to perceive the words of understanding,” is the scripture under The Purpose of Proverbs. God desires everyone, both godly and ungodly, to notice and follow to avoid the tragic pitfalls of life. “My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge,” as in Hosea four, verse six. The deficiency or simply not knowing revelatory or experiential knowledge leads to ignorance of God’s redemptive love and His spiritual principles of life and to demonic deception, spiritual darkness, and ultimately destruction as the fruit of our ways. If people do not know, then how can they grow?

Today, there’s a difference between those who serve God according to His Word and those who do not. Real success in life begins with God.
