Nigh unto all them that call upon Him

In Psalms, chapter one hundred and forty-five, verse eighteen, all who call upon Him in truth with a sincere and upright heart may assure He is near. He will hear their prayer, fulfill their desire for help, and work for their deliverance as in verse nineteen, “He will fulfill the desire of them that fear him: he also will hear their cry, and will save them.”

The theme verse under The Goodness of the Lord section depicts that God will come to the prayers of His people. “Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you. Cleanse your hands ye sinners; and purify your hearts, ye double-minded,” as in James four, verse eight. God will show up to those who sincerely call to Him from repentant hearts. In Matthew five, verse eight, “Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God.”

An old saying goes, “Cleanliness is next to godliness.” Although this phrase sounds simple, the statement is true. However, God would be referring to the internal: the spirit. Those who desire God to hear their cry must have humble hearts. The arrogant, prideful, and selfish God will not hear. At the end of First Peter five, verse five, “for God resisteth the proud, and giveth grace to the humble.”

On the other hand, as believers draw nigh to God, all the other ungodly things will eventually draw away from you: No longer in the powers of darkness, but into His marvelous light. However, in a person’s quest to be closer to God, they will experience loneliness with not being a part of the world’s popular crowd. The devil knows who is serious about serving God because he can tell whose light is shining bright or those who are not shining. Draw nigh to Him today!
