There shall no evil befall thee

In Psalms, chapter ninety-one, verse ten, nothing can happen to a faithful servant except by God’s permission, as in verses seven through ten; this truth does not mean there will never be unpleasant or difficult times, as in Romans eight, verses thirty-five to thirty-seven, but as long as we make God our Lord and refuge, in everything that happens to us God will work for our good.

God will bring good out of all affliction, trials, persecution, and suffering; the good that God works is conforming us to the image of Christ and ultimately bringing about our glorification. This promise is limited to those who love God and have submitted to Him through faith in Christ, as in Exodus twenty, verse six, Deuteronomy seven, verse nine, Psalms thirty-seven, verse seventeen, Isaiah fifty-six, verses four through seven, and First Corinthians two, verse nine, respectively. The “all things” do not include our sins and negligence in Romans six, verses sixteen, twenty-one, twenty-three, Romans eight, verses six and thirteen, and Galatians six, verse eight. No one can excuse sin by maintaining that God will work it out for good.

The theme of The Security of the Godly section expresses that no evil shall transpire unless we put ourselves in that environment. For example, going to clubs and ungodly gatherings that are susceptible to danger will be our fault if some incident were to occur. For believers, God would somehow, by His Word or by another believer in Christ, direct them away from attending such events. However, there will be times when unexpected drama or conflict will happen. However, God is in the midst of His people, especially when they call upon Him and expect the Lord to work on their behalf. There shall be no evil befall those who believe and trust God.
