How amiable are thy tabernacles

In Psalms, chapter eighty-four, verses one through twelve, this psalm describes believers who are so attached to God that they long above everything else to be in God’s house and presence, as in Psalms forty-two. Their greatest desire is to experience God’s nearness, to worship Him with other faithful believers, as in verse ten, and to receive His blessings. Those who go to the house of the Lord seeking His presence will receive His blessing. This blessing includes the nearness of God, renewed spiritual strength, as in verses five through seven, answered prayer, as in verse eight, and grace, glory, and goodness, as in verse eleven.

The theme chapter under the Longing for the Sanctuary section represents faithful believers who love God and cannot wait to be in His holy presence when the opportunity arrives. These saints of God look forward to getting ready and dressing modestly to dwell in His house as they congregate with other loyal followers of Christ. Their hearts desire to give Him thanks, praise the name of Jesus, and worship the Lord. They seek God to minister the Word through His servants and the manifestation of the Holy Spirit within the sanctuary. These faithful believers desire to seek after the Blesser before the blessing.

Today, the people who attend the house of the Lord are saints who seek God and those who seek what He can give them. The difference between the two is those who enter with thanksgiving, as in Psalms hundred, verse four, “Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise: be thankful unto him, and bless his name.” Others who attend come in and observe, looking for a word of prophecy on their behalf. What is your desire when you attend His sanctuary or to pray before Him?
