In Psalms, chapter sixteen, verse five, the “inheritance” and “cup” are the Lord Himself, as in chapter seventy-three, verse twenty-six, Numbers eighteen, verse twenty, and Deuteronomy eighteen, verse two. A significant aspect of our inheritance for the New Testament from John fourteen, verse twenty-three, “Jesus answered and said unto him, If a man loves me, he will keep my words: and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him.” Communion with God is a sure source of blessings and happiness.
The theme verse under the Joy in God’s Presence section depicts the Lord giving Himself to those who passionately have Him within their hearts. Those who love Jesus and obey His words will experience the immediate presence and love of the Father and the Son. The Father and the Son come to believers through the Holy Spirit. The Lord is the portion of those who have accepted Jesus Christ and have daily devotion. The constant communion with God will change things and circumstances around whatever they face.
Love from believers to God and others will move mountains: This is not to say that the believer who lives in this fashion will not undergo suffering or other trials and testing ahead but will prevail and overcome. The difference between believers and people who believe in God is those who love Him and keep His Word. How does a believer, or follower, or Christian do that? Obedience. To obey is the only way to accomplish and establish our portion of inheritance with God. When a family member follows the principles set by the head of the household, usually the father and mother, they eventually will receive their portion when the time comes to distribute the inheritance left for relatives.
Therefore, the Lord is the portion of my inheritance that consists of love, devotion, and obedience, establishing it: This union using communion will bring forth happiness.
