The Lord will hear when I call

In Psalms, chapter four, verse three, to have the assurance that God will answer our call for help, we must sincerely endeavor to live a godly life, as in Proverbs fifteen, verse twenty-nine, John nine, verse thirty-one, and chapter fifteen, verse seven. Those faithfully devote themselves to God are set apart as His treasured possession. When we belong to God, we can appeal to Him as our protector and provider, as in Hebrews ten, verse twenty-two, First John three, verses twenty-one through twenty-two.

The theme verse is from the Thoughts in the Night section. Thinking can come from the daily living we encounter, the problems we have on our hands, and the things we desire to have or experience that will cause us to have thoughts at night. The verse is the central part of the entire chapter because the first half states, “But know that the LORD hath set apart him that is godly for himself: the LORD will hear when I call unto him.” This part highlighted indicates that He knows who are His. God sees the heart if it is godly and towards Him, which will gain His favor. However, the Lord also knows if our heart is not and has the motive of using Him to gain ungodly things that will lead us away and not close.

For believers, the answer to when the Lord will hear when we call is in the following verses after the theme of four through five of chapter four. “Stand in awe, and sin not: commune with your own heart upon your bed, and be still. Selah. Offer the sacrifices of righteousness, and trust the LORD.”  Therefore, we must pray and avoid doing wrong when we know better, and talk to God privately inside: move your lips if you have to and do not make a sound so the devil will not have access to interfere, and praise God randomly at times, by saying “thank you Lord, or praise you Lord,” and other gestures of worship. Do right before Him because we know the difference between right and wrong, and trust God in all situations or problems. If someone says or knows your situation or issues, do not react or agree with them because it will further pull you down instead of God helping bring you out. Shun it and get away from that person if possible.

When we daily do this, then we will experience Him answering it. However, this does not mean we will get what we want, be free from suffering, or be exempt from future tests and trials. Still, we must remember we will have His favor as we continue to do what the verses indicate because obedience is better than sacrifice. So now we know, let’s go and do it.
