In Psalms, chapter one, verse two, those who are blessed not only turn from evil but also build their lives around the instruction of the Lord. They genuinely enjoy the pleasure in God and His beauty and pattern their lives according to His Word. What motivates their actions is love for God and His Word. As they draw life from God, they live fruit-bearing lives, as in verse three.
Those seeking to live under God’s blessing meditate on God’s law, the Word, to know God by revelation, and to shape their thinking, attitudes, and actions. They read the words of Scripture, ponder them, and compare them with other Scriptures. When meditating on a passage in the Bible, questions such as these cross their minds: Is God’s Spirit applying this verse to my life and personal situation? Is there a promise here for me to claim? Is this passage revealing a particular sin I must strive to avoid? Is God issuing a commandment that I must obey? Is my spirit in harmony with what the Holy Spirit is saying? Is this passage expressing the truth about God, salvation, sin, the world, or my obedience on which I need to be enlightened by the Holy Spirit?
A relationship between the two involved will take time to develop. The development begins by reading the Word received from the sender and vice versa. The difference between a believer and God is He already has the message. All the follower has to do is read, obey, and apply. Our response is to accept and pray as feedback to let him know how we are with being around His presence and what was said.
The Word of God is like a love letter because God wants His children or servants to excel spiritually and do well. However, the challenge for most Christians is having that relationship with God intimately, not physically but spiritually. To read, pray, and stay connected is the way. After all, God is a spirit, and believers subdue and overcome the flesh to experience the joy of being inclined in the spirit with God.
